Heat & Cold Therapy Procedure

Here’s what you can expect during your contrast therapy experience:

Before Your Session:

  • Consultation: Our staff will discuss your goals and any health conditions you may have to ensure contrast therapy is safe and appropriate for you. They will also explain the treatment process and answer any questions you may have and ask you to fill and signed a waiver.
  • Hydration: Drinking plenty of water before your session is crucial. It helps your body regulate temperature effectively and prevents dehydration.
  • Preparation: We recommend you bring a towel and flip flops (if you can’t we will take care of these for you). Please remove any jewelry or metal objects before entering the treatment areas.

The Heat & Cold Experience:

  • Heat Therapy: The first part of the treatment involves exposure to heat in our infrared sauna, typically lasting 30 minutes. The warmth helps relax muscles, improve circulation, and prepare your body for the cold phase.
  • Cold Therapy: Following the heat treatment, you’ll transition to a cold plunge for a a period of time between 1 and 15 minutes depending on temperature and the experience of the person. The cold water constricts blood vessels, reducing inflammation and promoting alertness.

After Your Session:

  • Warm Up: After the final cold exposure, we recommend you to warm up your body resting in our relaxation area.
  • Hydrate: Replenish your fluids by drinking plenty of water after your session.
  • Relaxation: Take some time to unwind and enjoy the continued benefits of contrast therapy.

Important Considerations:

  • Safety First: Please inform our staff of any pre-existing health conditions, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, or uncontrolled diabetes, before undergoing contrast therapy.
  • Listen to Your Body: Pay close attention to how you feel throughout the session. If you experience any discomfort, such as dizziness, lightheadedness, or chest pain, exit the hot or cold treatment immediately and inform a staff member.
  • Start Gradually: If you’re new to contrast therapy, it’s best to begin with shorter durations and gradually increase the time as you become accustomed to the temperature changes.
